Did you miss me? Did you wonder where I’d gone?
Yes, it has been a long 6 or so months since I last posted (my June financial update), and a lot has happened, but I don’t want to abandon my blog, and I’d really like to get back in to posting regularly. (Okay, I never really posted regularly, but I posted occasionally…)
So, before I just jump back in to posting about my goals and my struggles at becoming a better version of me, I figured I would do a quick life update…
Briefly, what has happened in the past 6 months…
- my step daughter graduated from high school, moved in with us, and has started at university.
- my son has grown from 5 months to 11 months, with all the chaos and milestones that typically come with that.
- we road tripped down to California and back for my friend’s wedding.
- my mum got sick, was diagnosed with cancer in October, and passed away in November.
- I struggled with the limited daycare availability in my city while attempting to go back to work and have finally found a full time spot so I can start making money again and get our finances back to normal.
- I’ve started back at work.
I’m sure there are other things I’ve forgotten to include, but that’s good enough for a brief rundown. I’m sure I’ll go in to more detail about a bunch of those things as I write posts over the next little while…
Which brings me to my next topic… What should I write about next? Is there anything from my previous posts that you would like me to follow up on? Or anything that you want to know about? Please let me know in the comments so that you can help me with some focus as I get back in to the swing of posting here on my blog.

Jena,
I’m sorry to hear about your mother.
I’d love to hear about your current goals and how you’re working towards them with so much on your plate. I’d also love to hear about your puppy, bullet journal, and how you prioritize things now.
If there’s anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Much love,
Nicole

I am so sorry about your mom! I lost my dad in September very unexpectedly. I’m still having many hard days and can’t even imagine what my mom is going through. We are trying to get back to Michigan (moving) to help her out and be around the rest of our family.
I’d love to hear about your children.
If you ever want to talk, I will listen. I know sometimes we just need an ear of someone who knows the pain.

Stevie, I’m very sorry to hear about your dad. Losing a loved one is hard, and healing from that loss is a very long process… I hope that your move back to be with your mom is smooth and provides both of you with the family support you need.

Oh no, Jena, my condolences on the passing of your mother. I don’t see how you survive with going back to work, and mothering. My prayers for your emotional health.

Thank you. Going back to work has been a bit overwhelming at times, but my work has been very flexible so I’ve been able to do it gradually…

Can’t wait to hear about baby antics!
How was the road trip? This seems like it could be MANY posts!!
Did you give up your bullet journal?

Thank you. Yes, I suppose I’ll have to do a few posts about the little man, and also the road trip… And I’m still using my bullet journal… Though it has changed from the pretty journal I used to do to a much more utilitarian journal… But it’s what is helping me stay sane and somewhat organized. I will try to get a couple posts written about that transition too…

Glad you’re back! I checked your blog once a month or so and had all but given up! I’d love to hear about how the baby has impacted your finances.

Thank you Madeline. I’m sorry that I left you hanging for so long. I will definitely discuss baby expenses and what it’s done to our finances. Still working on getting a good schedule going to allow me time to write posts though… Work in progress…
