Here we are, over a month in to 2018 already! How are you doing with your new year’s resolutions or goals? I am going to try and post a monthly review for accountability on my personal goals. It may not be the most exciting read, but it’ll help me keep up with my goals, and also give me a better idea of what I need to work on each month… Of course, I am already quite late in getting this first review out since we are now pretty much half way through February… Oh well…
Let’s get right down to it…
Goal #1: Visit with Friends and Family 4 times per Month
How did I do? Well, it’s been a busy month, so I didn’t have a chance to make the spread in my bullet journal that I was using for keeping track of this goal last year… But, that being said, I think I was successful.
On the family side of things, we had a few family birthday celebrations, and my sister’s family got a new puppy, so we had lots of doggy play-dates to see if Bentley would be able to play nicely with a tiny puppy. (He’s pretty good, but he’s just so much bigger than the puppy – she’s a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, which is quite a small dog compared to a Bernese Mountain Dog.)
On the friend side of things, I did have a couple friends over to visit a couple times this month, and also went on a couple walks with friends. I did make a point of emailing a few friends that I hadn’t been in touch with for quite a while, and may actually be able to meet up with one when he and his family come in to town later this month. My husband and I also went out to a movie with some friends, and went for dinner afterwards (it was a matinee), and randomly met up with other friends at the pub we went to. So that was a double whammy of socializing and visiting friends!
This month I would like to make a spread in my bullet journal to keep better track of this goal.
Goal #2: Read 15 Books
I don’t think I read much this month at all… I am halfway through the recommended reading for my prenatal course that I’m taking later this month… So, I’ll count that when I finish it. But at this point, I have no completed books to add to the list…
Goal #3: Focus on my Habit Tracker
Well… I did pay attention to it, but I don’t know that I had any 100% successful days, or 100% successful habits… But I was close on a couple.
For January’s habit tracker, I had 12 habits to work on:
- 6am Wake-up: 8/31 (25%)
- Vitamins: 29/31 (93%)
- Morning Dog Walk: 9/29 (31%)
(I was away for 2 of the days, making them “not-applicable”, so it was only 29 days) - @ Work by 9am: 9/17 (52%)
(I had some holidays and appointments, so there were only 17 “work” days) - Drink 8 Cups of Water: 25/31 (80%)
- Meal Plan Success: 12/28 (42%)
(Being away for a few days made meal planning “not-applicable”) - Lunches Made: 13/19 (68%)
(I only count work days or week days for lunches needing to be made) - Clean Sink: 13/26 (50%)
(Don’t care about the sink when I’m not there…) - Evening Dog Walk: 27/28 (96%)
(I was away a couple days, so not sure on how the dog and the husband got on…) - BuJo Review: 12/31 (38%)
- Night-guard: 20/31 (64%)
- 10:30pm Bedtime: 7/31 (22%)
The 3 that were the most successful were my vitamins, my drinking water, and my evening dog walks… The 3 that need the most work are 6am wake-up, morning dog walks, and the 10:30pm bedtime.
So, where does that put me for February? Well… Surprise, surprise, I’ve had a wrench thrown in to my plans, and I am currently away for work for 3 weeks. I’ve decided that my habit tracker is not very applicable when I’m living in a hotel room and not at home with my regular schedule and tasks… So I’m going to concentrate on 3 things that I can do:
- Drink 8 Cups of Water
- Take my Vitamins
- Wear my Night-guard to bed
That’s it. When I get back home, maybe I can throw in a few more things, but until then, I’m going to keep it simple. Hopefully that will mean success!
Yay for the water, and vitamins!! Your body, and baby thank you! 😀

Yes, the vitamins are important for sure. The water is too, but I need to figure out how to spread the water consumption out a bit to decrease the overly full tummy and heartburn…

Oh yeah, I understand!! I never would have believed water causes heartburn, but it does!

Like you, the fewer I focus on the better I do. When do you get to move back home?

I am home now. Got home on Friday. Just a few days before my apparent flying deadline of 36 weeks pregnant. Very happy to be home! 🙂
