In an effort to get back on track with the blog, and my life in general, I have decided to bring back the monthly focus that I had as a personal goal for 2017.
I have sort of successfully completed a focus for January (My Morning Routine) and for February (Realistic Expectations), but then I sort of fell off the monthly focus wagon… I don’t remember doing a focus for March, April or May… But that doesn’t mean I am going to give up completely on my goal. I am going to jump in with a focus on fitness for June.
June Focus: Fitness
So, what is the plan for this focus? How am I going to accomplish this focus? Well, first I’m not going to do anything specific today or tomorrow, because I am going away for the weekend, and have to prepare for that. (I am making excuses already, not good…)
But, starting on Monday, I have 4 weeks of June, so here’s my plan (from my bullet journal, of course):
So, it’s pretty flexible, because I’m not 100% sure of my schedule for this month yet, and I wanted it to be achievable. (If it is rainy/gross out, I’ll stay in and do some yoga/stretching. If it is nice out, I can go for a run.)
I also didn’t want to stipulate how long of a run I needed to do, so that I can just go for a quick easy jog if I’m feeling lazy. That way, I’m working on the habit, without expectations. Does that make sense?
I have actually been for a morning run 2 times in the past 2 weeks, so I’ve been working up to this… I have also signed up for another half marathon in the fall (why do I keep doing this to myself, I’m not sure…), so I want to get in the habit of going for lots of runs. The idea being that when I have to actually start ramping up the distances and speeds, it won’t be at the same time as creating the habit of consistent running. (And here’s hoping that I actually train for this half marathon – and complete it – since I ended up being super sick the weekend of the race last year…)
Do you have a focus for June?
I think your plan and mindset is a great starting point 🙂 My focus for June is also fitness-related since I have 7 weeks left of training for my first full marathon! Best of luck to you, you got this!!

Thanks Julia Elizabeth! Good luck with your first full marathon! That will be quite the accomplishment. I don’t think I will ever do a full marathon, but I do want to someday (maybe this year) break the 2 hour mark on the half marathon.

Thank you Jena! I think a sub 2-hour half in a great goal to work towards ☺️

It’ll take some work, but fingers crossed. 🙂

I love your idea of a focus for the month, and I’ve had it in my head for a while now. I just haven’t done it yet. 🙂 I have kept in mind that I want to work on training my dogs during the summer because that’s when I have time.
Also, I didn’t know if Canadians called what Americans call soccer, soccer, and I see you do. Cool! Do French speaking Canadians call it football?

I should probably spend some time training my dog too… He’s pretty good for the most part… But there is definitely room for improvement.
And yes, we typically call soccer soccer here too… Though I play with a British guy who is always making fun of me and calling it football… As for the french part of Canada… I’m not totally sure… But I’m pretty sure that the Montreal Impact (a team in the MLS) calls themselves a soccer team…

My focus is fitness too! And also nutrition. I’ve gotten consistent with the workouts, but I slack on my meals!!

Yeah, I should probably concentrate on nutrition too, but baby steps… First exercise… 🙂
