It has officially been 2 years since I started blogging! (You can read my very first post here.) I can’t really believe that I’ve actually stuck with it, although I can’t say I’ve exactly been consistent… But, there has never been a month where I didn’t post anything, and I am still really having lots of fun with it.
I never created this blog with the intention of creating a large readership, or worrying about my page views, but I would be lying if I said that it didn’t thrill me to see a post be popular, or to have a bunch of people comment on one of my posts. And, whether or not it was my intention, my page views have dramatically increased over the past two years.
When I hit my 100th post last fall, I did a summary post to review some of the stats of my blog, so I thought it would be fun to revisit some of those numbers again, over a year later.
This is post #177.
So, I haven’t kept up quite the same pace as I did my first year of blogging. But I’m not too concerned with that. Life gets busy and sometimes it just doesn’t work out to get a blog post published.
Let’s go over the same numbers as last time…
Number of Logos: 0
This is still zero. I just haven’t put in the time or effort to do this. I should though… Maybe this will be the year that I do it…
Average Number of Posts per Month: 7 (all time) or 6 (this year)
So, this has gone down from the 8 post average that I had for my 100th post. I’d like to say it is because I am now producing content of a higher quality, so I produce less, but I know the truth, and the truth is that I am just not very consistent. My highest month this year (June) had 9 posts, which is less than the all time high of 13 (March 2015). And my lowest months this year (October) only had 3 posts, which is also down from my 5 post months in the fall of 2015.
Number of Posts Missed: 35
Last time, this stat was copied from Our Next Life and it was how many Mondays were missed (because they post on Mondays), but I didn’t have a posting schedule at the time. I do now, or I try to now… I’ve been trying for a Tuesday/Thursday schedule since that 100th post, so there should be a total of 104 posts in 2016. With my current total for 2016 at 69 (including this post), I am missing 35. But, of the 69 I did post, 8 of them were not on a Tuesday or a Thursday, so I could potentially increase that “missed” number to 43.
Number of Featured Posts: still 0…
Number of Big Award Nominations: also still 0…
Number of Twitter Followers: 31
Finally, something that has improved! Since my 100th post, I have joined Twitter! I can’t exactly say that I’ve been very active on Twitter, but I like to go on there occasionally to read what others are discussing and sometimes I even respond! I know I could do better, but I just find all this social media a lot to take on.
Most Viewed Post: Mission: Get Fit! (with 1,077 this year and 1,143 all time)
This post is miles ahead of every other post I’ve written. I don’t even think it was that great of a post… But everyone is always looking for ways to get fit, and it was a fun and effective challenge to do.
Least Viewed Post: My Phone Dilemma – part 2 and Sorry…
These two are tied with only 7 views each. My Phone Dilemma is all about me getting rid of our land line, which is apparently very common now, but I had some reservations. And the Sorry post was just me excusing my absence from the blog for a little while back in February when I was sick… Which I don’t bother to do anymore… I just don’t show up for extended periods of time. I’d like to stop doing that at some point, but not sure if/when that will happen.
Day with the Most Views: Saturday, July 18th (with 116)
No change here… I think my top day recently is only around 79 views, which while quite a bit less than 116 was actually quite a shock because I think the typical day lately has been more around 30 or 40 views.
Most Commented Post: KonMari My Clothes and Fall Fitness Plan (20)
The fall fitness plan post was in my top commented posts last time, but I hadn’t done my clothing sort and purge at the time. KonMari was really big last winter. Well, I suppose it is still big based on the wait-list at the library to get her books…
Top Commenter: Gin Is My Comfort Food (with 28)
Despite the fact that she hasn’t commented at all this year, she is still my top commenter. I guess I haven’t inspired anyone else to comment quite as much since then. I’ll work on that… Maybe I’m not working hard enough to make online friends? I know there are a couple that are beginning to come close…
Total Comments: 900 (and again, almost half of those are me…)
So, Now What?
Honestly, I’m not going to put any crazy goals on myself with respect to this blog. I want to just keep trying to post consistently and continue to use this blog as a way to keep myself accountable on my journey to being a better version of myself.
Is there anything as a reader that you would like to see on here? Any topic you would like me to cover or something I could go in to more detail on? I’d love any feedback you can give me because sometime I run short on inspiration and motivation, and having you tell me what you’d like will definitely help me along.
P.S. I secretly have a goal to get my total page views for 2016 to over 10,000. I am so close I can smell it… If I just keep posting consistently and keeping up on my comments and social media for the next couple weeks, I should be able to do that.
Congrats on the blogiversary! 2 blogging years has to be the equivalent of at least 10 years in the real world. Most people don’t make it anywhere near that point. Keep it up!

Thanks! I would feel like it was more of an accomplishment if I had kept up with a regular schedule, but I’m still here, so that definitely is something. 🙂

Yes, congratulations! I like that you don’t have any crazy goals and that your approach to the blog has changed (ex: saying you’re sorry for not posting vs. just accepting it and moving on). Do you think you’re taking a more laid-back/natural approach instead of trying to push too hard?
I’d love to learn more about big award nominations. Are there some in particular you’d really be honored to get?
Also, when you say “featured” blog post, does that mean it’s featured on someone else’s blog? I am just curious.
I’m off to read your post #1!

Thanks Bunnytotemknits! I am working on being laid-back about it… But inside I still really want to be able to post on a regular schedule…
Honestly, I don’t know what the big awards are, but there are some awards that some of the bloggers that I read have been nominated for or have received. I’m not really interested in putting enough effort in to be one of them, and I don’t really know what any of the awards are… So, no, there are no awards I’m looking to get.
And yes, the “featured” blog post is when a big blog (with a big readership) promotes one of your posts. I don’t aspire to create amazing content, I am not a natural writer, so I don’t think I’d ever be a good candidate for a feature. You never know though… Maybe someday I’ll spend some time improving my writing and get there.
Hope you enjoyed my early posts. 🙂

Hey! I like this idea of a Blog-iversary post. I may start doing my own version of this. You have good growth going there. I hope you reach your 10k pageviews goal. 🙂

It’s fun to look back on your blog and see where you’ve come from. I’m amazed that I’ve had so much growth and that people actually read my blog! It feels good. And I did manage to reach my 10k pageviews for 2016 already! (and there are still a couple days left!) I look forward to seeing a blog-iversary post on your site!
