Well, I had planned to post this yesterday, but that didn’t happen… and now I’m running late… my friend planned this all day sports watching pub crawl that is starting in 15 minutes, so I didn’t get to spend as much time on this post as I had hoped. Oh well, I guess that shows that I need to set some goals so that I can organize my life a bit better, so I guess that is fitting. Hopefully this post isn’t too scatter brained.
Decluttering
I love a good before and after reveal. I find I am somewhat obsessed with finding decluttering before and after posts online. It’s inspiring and fun to see that sort of progress in organizing. However, viewing all these successes in other people’s decluttering and organizing has not yet translated in to me doing anything big myself. In 2015, that is going to change.
As I mentioned before, my fiancé and I bought a house together this past year, and are working on making it a home. We have big plans for renovations, but before we can get too far in that, we need to get rid of the junk, and organize the stuff we want to keep so that we can actually have room to get started on the house stuff. Since both my fiancé and I had lived separately for several years prior to moving in together, we both had all the fixings for a household, and rather than declutter them before moving in to our new house, we’ve been slowly sorting thru things in the new house. I even tackled a few places over the holidays. But we still have a long way to go. So for 2015, I’m going to give myself one decluttering task per week that I will post about on here (hopefully giving other people their fill of before and after reveals). Some might be pretty small depending on my schedule for the week, but little by little, I will declutter my house.
1. Complete a weekly decluttering task.
Week 1: paper clutter (& my filing cabinet)
Week 2: tupperware & lunch containers in kitchen
Week 3: my email inboxes (yes I have multiple)
Week 4: shoes (there are multiple places in my house where shoes hide)
I’ll assign the rest as we go…
Gardening
We have a great backyard at our new house, and I attempted to make a garden last summer, but I did it too late, didn’t have enough knowledge, and was away a lot for work, so it didn’t pan out as we had hoped. I got a gardening book for Christmas, so I want to read that in the next month or so, and my goal is to have a successful garden starting with planting in March.
2. Plan & follow through with a plan for our backyard gardens.
Wedding Planning
The big thing that we are doing this year is getting married. So, with that in mind, one of my goals this year will be related to that. I guess the goal of planning a wedding is a bit general and not really worth posting about, so for now I’m going to make it my goal to get organized in January with a schedule of tasks and then follow that schedule. Hopefully that will limit the amount of last minute items that stress me out and cause me to turn in to the dreaded bridezilla. I really don’t want that to happen.
3. Make a schedule for all wedding related tasks with deadlines and follow it.
I guess that will be it for my random miscellaneous goals for 2015. Do you have any random goals that don’t fit in to other categories?
I hope everyone has a great new years eve and happy new year!
